在會診後，醫生會把胃水球放入你的胃內，全程只需20分鐘。
您將在醫生指示下吞服一個素食膠囊，膠囊內裝有一個連接著幼膠管的胃水球，當膠囊進入您的胃後，醫生會以 X 光檢查確認膠囊是否已被放在正確位置。
確定後，醫生將會透過接著幼膠管注入液體，並進行第二次 X 光檢查以確認胃水球已被注滿至合適水平，當確認後，醫生會把膠管慢慢抽回，整個胃水球的放置程序大致完成。
大多份患者在吞服裝有Elipse胃水球之膠囊時沒有出現任何問題。但如你吞服時出現任何困難，您的醫生都可使用導絲，把膠囊導入適當位置而無需進行內窺鏡導入或麻醉。¹-²
